International is applied to its charitable fund, and to-date $2 million has been pledged to Habitat for Humanity’s efforts across North America.

To further this initiative the United Nations has declared the first Monday in October World Habitat Day. The World Habitat Day website states, "The idea is to reflect on the state of our towns and cities and the basic right of all to adequate shelter. It is also intended to remind the world of its collective responsibility for the future of the human habitat." Habitat for Humanity is a proud supporter of World Habitat Day.
